One of the questions that I think a lot of people would like to know is, “how long will it take to fix my golf swing .As you keep reading, I describe some of the different ways you can go about it.  After reading them, it’s up to you to decide which approach you will take. 

Swing Fix 1 – Buy New Clubs

Every golfer has bought new clubs at one time or another to help change their game.   Now, I don’t want to totally discount this fix because buying new clubs can help your game if you’re playing the wrong clubs, or your clubs are not properly fitted to you and your swing. The best thing to do, is visit a clubfitter so you can have your swing checked and get properly fitted for your clubs.

There’s another little know way that buying new clubs can fix your swing. New club give you a different feeling from your old clubs.Because they feel different, hitting shots with them causes you to take your mind off of your swing.  This totally clears your mind but it’s only temporary.  After a couple of weeks of using a new club(s), it no longer feels different so you go right back to thinking about your swing again.  My advice here is to quit trying new clubs. 

As I said above, find a clubfitter and have your clubs professionally fitted.Then, stay focused on working on your swing.

Swing Fix 2 – All Those Swing Tps

We’ve all picked up the latest golf magazine and tried the latest golf tips hoping they will magically get our game back on track.  The problem is, most people don’t know their swing well enough to determine if, in fact, these tips would apply to their swing. If you don’t know your swing well enough and you keep trying these tips, you may make your swing worse. Plus, a tip is just a tip.  It’s not necessarily going to improve your fundamentals. 

An example of this would be to change to a stronger grip.Even though a tip like this may help you sqaure the clubface better through impact, you are still not doing the correct grip.Make sure you’re very careful the next time you experiement with one of these tips from your friend, or in magazines.  A good idea would be to discuss the tip with your head pro or teaching pro first to see if it would be a good fit for your game.You should try it only after this consultation.  If it makes your swing better, great!

So many golfer’s are searching for the instant cure that they get caught up into experimenting with too many changes at once.This approach will never work.  Unfortunately, this is only going to lead to confusion.Plus, you may end up trying so many different things that you forget what actually worked.It may have been luck even if you did find something that worked.  The true test for this apporach is your game improving long into the future.

Swing Fix 4 – Only Work on 1 Thing

The best way you should work on fixing your swing is to take it one step at a time.If you take this approach, you remain focused on that one thing therefore, you will not be experimenting.   In order to work on your swing this way, you need to follow a method or work with a swing coach.Working on your swing this way will make the changes permanent because you will spend more time on each posiiton without distractions.I know, most golfers think this is going to take a long time.When you compare way of fixing your swing to the others, you really will getter better, faster this way. 

That’s because the other tips only give you a temporary fix whereas, working on each piece of your swing, develops proper fundamentals that you can take with you long into the future.

Pre Golf Swing Preparation

First, ensure your legs are spread apart in the same distance as your shoulders. Important to note that your shoulders are side on and have to be in line with your target. Angle your left foot slightly outside your left shoulder while keeping your right foot pointed in alignment with your right shoulder.To maintain this technique keep relaxed in the arms and joints, try not to be tense. These small things that I have just mentioned will greatly improve your golf swing. Before blasting the ball at the driving range practice your preparation before your shot so it will become second nature to you.

Gripping the golf club properly

Another important aspect to consider to assist you stop your golf slice is the way you grip the club. Place your left hand on the club handle and make sure that your thumb is placed along the shaft. Take your right hand and overlap your left hand ensuring that your right palm is covering your left thumb and also have your right thumb pointed along the shaft. Take note of the tension of your grip. Gripping the club to tight will more likely make you over rotate and cause you to hook the ball.

 

Keep in mind also that when executing the correct club to ensure that the back of your left hand is facing at the target and your right hand is the opposite.
